Liu Seong is the Chinese name of Willem Reeders, who first taught this excellent martial art in The United States.
It is a rational self defense system featuring complex forms and is almost purely defensive in its approach. It relies on speed and evasiveness in countering aggressive attacks. The system has been passed down to Sifu David Dolbear from Gary Galvin, who learned directly from Master Reeders during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. David Dolbear received the Orange Sash in the system in 1978.
Training consists of physical conditioning, extensive form work, self defense technique work, sparring and bag training. The teaching approach and class atmosphere is informal, cooperative and non-competitive.
